Iron boss explains Chilaka exit

Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire admits the impending return of Jamie Guy had an impact on his decision to allow Chib Chilaka to leave the club.

Chilaka was on the first-team fringes prior to his departure and the long-awaited return of 24-year-old Guy will give Devonshire an extra option in attack.

However, Guy is not expected to be thrust straight back into first-team action - especially after a year on the treatment table with a double open fractured leg.

Devonshire is hoping to ease Guy back into the first-team fold and would like to bring in another striker on loan to cushion the departure of Chilaka.

"Chib wants to be playing football and I understand that, so where he has gone represents a good move for him," Devonshire told Green 'Un 24 .

"Jamie Guy is back training with the team now and depending on how he does for the reserves, he might be on the bench for the Southport game.

"Jamie's return probably made it easier for me to let Chib go and I would like to think that his exit may allow me to bring someone in on loan.

"As for Jamie, it has been a long, hard road back and I won't be putting too much emphasis on him.

"It will be more of a case of me looking at him for next season. I am not going to be rushing the lad."

Fairclough names England squad

England 'C' manager Paul Fairclough has announced his 16-man squad for the upcoming International Challenge Trophy Group A fixture with Italy.

The clash will take place at Fleetwood Town's Highbury Stadium on Tuesday, 28th February 2012. Match kick-off is 7.30pm
