THORPE SIGNS TWO YEAR DEAL

Cambridge United have announced that young defender Jonathan Thorpe has signed a new two year development contract at the R Costing's Abbey Stadium.

Thorpe has made his way through the youth ranks up to the United first team this season.

The youngster has progressed well and has appeared in the starting line up a number of times. Although a right back, Thorpe has made some of his appearances in midfield.

Jez George is delighted to have signed the youngster up for a further two years, he said " The lad is an exciting player and has a lot of potential". Jez added "We are delighted he has committed to us for a further two years".

Thorpe said "I'm very happy to be staying at the club and hope to make it into the first team as soon as possible".

Thorpe has played five first team games times this season. games.
