Cambrodge United twice came from behind to earn a draw against Wrexham at The R Costings Abbey Stadium. The game ended 2-2. The result means there will be a reply at the Racecourse Ground for a place in the second round.
Jez George made one change to the starting line up with James Jennings returning to left back in place of skipper Michael Wylde who dropped to the bench. Simon Brown and Liam Hughes also returned to the bench.
Having had a well observed minutes silence for the war heroes the game got underway with The Ambermen attacking the South Stand containing the noisy Wrexham fans.
The first twenty minutes had little action with both teams' first attack failing to come to anything with over hit passes. James Jennings was first to win a free kick which Ashley Carew whipped in but no United player got a touch. From the clearance Wrexham broke clear but nothing came of the attack.
A couple of moments the visitors were in the lead when Andy Morrell scored. The player/manager escaped his marker to meet a long Lee Fowler cross which keeper Danny Naisbitt pushed out but Morrell put the rebound in.
So a tough task for United was now made twice as hard. After taking the lead Wrexham seemed to exert more pressure and had United rattled. Once United got over their shaky period they began to dominate without really having a clear cut chance. A couple of opportunities went begging with Harrison Dunk wasting one of those blasting over the bar.
Wrexham went into the half time break worthy leaders.

Who know's what manager Jez George would of said but surely he would have had to earn his money. The Ambermen came out quick with Berry and Shaw linking to set up Dunk who wasted the opportunity. Within moments United were level. Winger Dunk sped past Westwood and earned a free kick. Carew sent in a great delivery to which Josh Coulson headed home. Game on. How would Wrexham respond? We were about to see. The Dragons sprung into action and Wright earned a corner after a strong run down the left. The corner came in was punched by Naisbitt but a Wright flick fell to Morrell who rifled home.
United would now have to come back for a second time.
Both sides contiuned to attack with Wright going close to putting the Dragons 3-1 up. United made a double change bringing on Marriott and Patrick for Carew and Jarvis. Marriott nearly made it a dream substitution but his attempted shot was blocked. As the minutes ticked away Cambridge piled the pressure on and their persistence was rewarded when Josh Coulson netted in the third minute of injury time. A booming long kick from Naisbitt was headed down by Coulson into the path of Charles whose shot was skewed into the path of Coulson who bundled home send The Ambernation wild. The excitement didnt end there as Ryan Charles had a winner ruled out. A good comeback by the U's earn them a replay at The Racecourse Ground.
