Cambridge United's unbeaten start to the season was stopped when they lost at home to Kidderminster Harriers.
With United going into the game unbeaten, hopes were high that it would continue in front of the noisy Amberarmy.
Manager Jez George made one change to the line up bringing in Rory McAuley for loanee Steve Kinniburgh.
The game began in tit for tat fashion. Both teams seem to be working each other out. Despite this Cambridge started by playing nice attractive with Ashley Carew and Tom Shaw to the fore.
It was a full fifteen minutes before the game sprung into life when Adam Marriott burst through the centre of the pitch and shot from thirty yards out. The shot went tamely wide. During this period of the game Carew continued to be influential by feeding Charles on the half way line he then played a wonderful reverse over the shoulder flick back to Charles who raced onto the pass down the line and put in a cross which was put behind for a corner.
Minutes later Ryan Charles had an effort blocked with both Berry and McAuley having a bite of the cherry but failing to convert.
Cambridge continued to dominate proceedings with great football as Harrison Dunk sped forward pass a static Harriers defence putting in a cross which could not be converted by any United players.
With Cambridge in total control Kidderminster had to wait nearly half an hour to produce their first chance. A crossed was whipped into the box with Rory McAuley putting out for a corner.
Harrison Dunk then galloped forward before feeding Adam Marriott who cut inside and curled a shot which deflected wide. United had another chance when Charles failed to make use of a good opportunity.
The Amberarmy in the stands started to become very nervous as they could see Cambridge's dominance failed to produce a goal.
Their worries were justified when seven minutes from the break Kidderminster took the lead. Steve Guinan latched onto a cute pass which disected the U's backline and slotted past Naisbitt.
Within a couple minutes United were two down when they failed to clear their lines and Guinen was given a free header.
United went into half time baffled as to how they were two down. No doubt the Jez hair dryer treatment would be dished out.
Into the second half United pressed for a goal and made two good chances without converting. fifteen minutes in George made a change taking off the ineffectual Marriott and bringing on Michael Gash.
The sub made an immediate impact slotting home with his first touch.
The noise from the stand rose as United pressed for the equaliser. Gash almost made it two but was unlucky. Charles was also denied the equaliser when Jones intercepted a cross.
United continued to drive forward but failed to get the goal they required and will now look to put this disappointment behind them by beating Grimes on Tuesday.
