Cambridge United escaped with a draw against Bath City at The Abbey Stadium. In the last home game before christmas Jez George and his team left the field to a chorus of boos.
The game ended 1-1after Liam Hughes had given United a first half lead.
Cambridge manager Jez George made two changes to the line up. Kevin Roberts returned to the defence in place of Jonathan Thorpe. Ryan Charles replaced Peter Winn on the left wing.
Cambridge started brightly with Ashley Carew sending in a cross which caused panic in the Bath box. The ball ran loose to Tom Shaw who found Carew wide again who put in a low cross which was cleared by the shaky Bath defence. Ryan Charles then put in a decent cross which was cleared.
Cambridge then earned a free kick after good work from Charles and Jarvis. The free kick was in the right area for Ashley Carew. He duly stepped up and struck a beautiful kick which dipped over the wall, beat the keeper and grazed the top of the bar.
Carew was at the heart of the action sending in a decent cross that Hughes couldn't connect to but Ryan Charles could but woefully put wide after the ball came off his shinpad.
Bath then had a chance which they put wide. Cambridge then tried to play some one touch football near the box but the combo of Gash and Hughes didn't come off. Moments later United took the lead when Liam Hughes smashed home.
The rest of the half saw Cambridge dominate but Bath began to creep into the game getting into some dangerous positions.

The second half started with Bath getting two free kicks and causing alarm in Cambridge territory. Within ten minutes of the restart Bath equalised.
Carew, who had been at the heart of most of Cambridge's work got caught in possession on the edge of the box and failed to clear his lines properly. The weak clearance only fell as far as Simpson who sent the ball straight towards the box eventually falling for Hogg who drilled home.
This came as a blow to United who to be honest looked out of sorts. Without Luke Berry they seem to lack the spark required to create goals.
United responded to the goal making a double change with Charles and Gash departing and Murtagh and Patrick coming on.
This seem to initially pep up the U's but it wasn't long before Bath became dangerous again. As Bath grew in confidence United failed to respond and seemed to be on the backfoot. In the closing moments United keeper Danny Naisbitt made a couple of crucial saves ensuring the match ended equal.
