Cambridge United snatched a dramatic 2-2 draw at Altrincham after being two down.
Cambridge caretaker manager Jez George made one change for the match, with loan signing Dean Sinclair replacing Rory McAuley. Adam Marriott also returned to the squad taking his place on the bench.
Altrincham made the early running and managed to get their first corner as early as the second minute which the U's defence capably defended. Cambridge then took command trying to play their way through the Alty defence with Jordan Patrick to the fore.
On eight minutes Alty had another corner which Young headed over. United went straight down the other end and Dean Sinclair had a shot deflected for a corner. From the corner Cambridge had another chance when the ball fell to centre half Brian Saah whose shot was blocked and cleared away.
Within minutes Altrincham should have taken the lead when Cambridge keeper Simon Brown made a blunder which led to Clee heading towards goal with the ball hitting the bar and Brown out of position. This gave Alty confidence and they again moved forward with a counter attack but the danger was snuffed out by U's midfielder Mark Bentley.
Cambridge then moved forward with 'JP' managing to get a corner which was taken by full back James Jennings the ball was cleared and fell to Jennings whose shot flew wide.
The Ambermen continued to probe and should have scored when winger Conal Platt sent Danny Wright through on goal but the big striker's touch was sadly lacking leading to his shot being pushed wide.
The miss proved to be costly as within two minutes Altrincham took the lead when Ross Lawton finished sweetly passed keeper Brown.
 Cambridge attacked straight away with Mark Bentley sending a stinging shot towards the Alty goal which was turned away. Brian Saah then took another shot earning a corner which when sent over he met with a header which bounced into the ground and over.
United's play looked ever promising but on the hour disaster struck when Saah felled the tricky Clee resulting in a penalty. Reeves made no mistake from the spot. Within a minute Alty had another chance but Reeves missed.
A minute later Cambridge got a goal back when Danny Wright pressured the defender in possession nicked the ball and set up strike partner Liam Hughes for a tap in.
The second half started with a big scuffle when Danny Wright was taken out. Cambridge improved and continued to push forward and were rewarded when Brian Saah volleyed in from a corner.
Cambridge continued to push for the winner and were boosted when Connors was sent off.
The game finished off in a scrappy manner and Cambridge will be disappointed they didn't take all three points.
