Cambridge United today announced that striker Daryl Clare has left the club by mutual consent.

Clare has been on the transfer list since the summer but has failed to find an alternative club on a loan or permanent deal. Manager Jez George believe's that Clare does not fit into the the club's new profile.

The striker was signed from Gateshead for £10,000 for the beginning of the 2010/2011 season by Martin Ling. In a injury hit season he only managed one goal and was loaned out earlier this year to Alfreton Town.

This summer he had a trial at Lincoln and also a spell at Gainsborough Trinity.
