ABBEY UNITED (SUNDAYS)

Abbey United Sundays, was born in the summer of 2010, by Cambridge United fan Pete 'Badger' Parnwell. Pete originally set up the team so the fans that played for Abbey United against other fans teams on Saturdays could also play local Sunday football together.

Surprisingly there are only six players that have the energy to represent Abbey United on a Saturday then Abbey United Sundays on Sunday morning. Amazingly when Abbey United Sundays started training Pete had a staggering thirty players to pick his squad from, this was soon narrowed down and Abbey United Sundays now has a squad of passionate and determined players.

After setting up the team and running it for a couple of months Pete decided to step aside for personal reasons to do with his health. With nobody else keen on trying their luck out in the dugout as gaffer it looked like they would fold before it even began. Luckily Newmarket Road end regular Chris 'Ches' Wood stepped up to the reigns and assisted by Ben Phillips they took over the running of the team.

Abbey United Sundays have had a mixed pre season as far as results goes and have started to gel well together and have all the ingredients to take the Cambridge District Friendly league by storm and to become a success.
